Whether it’s trying out a new exercise class, taking a dip in the pool, or having a go in the gym, this nationwide campaign is all about inspiring people to move more and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of being active every single day.
With one in four people in England classed as inactive (doing less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week), National Fitness Day is a powerful opportunity to get millions more people moving and support the NHS by improving the nation’s health.
The UK Chief Medical Officers’ Guidelines recommend:
This year’s theme, ‘Powered by You!’, celebrates the role everyone can play, from individuals and communities to businesses, schools and hospitals, in spreading the message about the importance of physical activity.
As more people prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing, National Fitness Day is a chance to celebrate all the ways we can stay active to support our health and quality of life.
Here are just a few ways you can get involved locally:
Swimming is a fantastic full-body workout that’s gentle on the joints and great for cardiovascular health. It’s also a brilliant way to relax and de-stress. Swimming doesn’t have to be booked in advance, just turn up and visit reception. If you swim more than twice a week an Active Swim membership will save you money.

From stretching to strength and toning to HIIT, group fitness classes are a fun and motivating way to stay active. Exercising with others can boost your mood, improve consistency, and help you stay accountable. Come join us on for a fascinating journey through the rich history of Grimsby’s port. Join our knowledgeable guides who will take you on a journey around the heritage building, learning about its history.
This tour will explore the development of the old port around the Commercial Dock and examine the architecture of the buildings. Looking at their uses, how the plots developed and some of the entrepreneurs attracted to the location.
Buildings are currently under renovation, so these bespoke, smaller tours are an intimate way to view them with your guide. Please note that the buildings are not accessible, and some are fenced off for safety reasons.
